Zeta Rho Chapter members were initiated and the chapter installed at the University
of California, San Diego in 1994. Kappa Alpha Theta was the ninth women's group to join
the Greek community at UCSD. Epsilon Sigma Chapter members from UC Irvine had ably assisted
with the colonization earlier in the year.

Kappa Alpha Theta grew even stronger in the State of California in 2001
as Eta Iota Chapter, the Fraternity’s 15th chapter in the state, was established
at the University of San Diego, a beautiful campus of Spanish architecture overlooking
Mission Bay and the Pacific.

Gamma Sigma was installed at San Diego State College in 1951. Posted on Kappaalphatheta.org on May 13th, 2011With deep regret, Grand Council announces the closing of the Gamma Sigma Chapter at San Diego State University. We do not take lightly the disestablishment of a college chapter; the closing process is a lengthy one and is a sad experience for the entire Fraternity. Our goal in Kappa Alpha Theta is to provide the finest and most rewarding membership experience, and we also strive to support our members to learn, grow, and excel. In recent years, despite continuing efforts by Fraternity officers, educational leadership consultants, and local advisors and alumnae, the chapter struggled to meet the expectations the Fraternity has of all her college chapters. We are grateful for the ongoing support of staff and administrators at San Diego State. We hope that the fraternity and sorority community at San Diego State can one day again support a Kappa Alpha Theta chapter, and we will continue discussions with the administration to plan for the eventual return of the Gamma Sigma Chapter. For 60 years, the Gamma Sigma Chapter has contributed quality members who continue to be a strength to Kappa Alpha Theta. College members in good standing continue to be Thetas and will be able to fully participate in alumnae life.Any questions should be directed to info@kappaalphatheta.org
